New York Beauty is a difficult pattern to execute. Both the circles and points of the triangles require considerable skill. I have seen examples that range from the most precise to incredibly crude. This quilt shows some of both. It is fairly well pieced, particularly the diamonds. Sunbursts in the center of each block are a nice feature not always included. What is not finely done is the quilting. The stitches are large but this does not detract from the overall boldness of the quilt. It has tremendous visual impact. The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. Measurements are 78" x 82". Made circa 1930; found in Virginia.
