Squares within diamond blocks constitute the pattern known as Economy Patch. This Ohio Amish (Bunker Hill; Holmes County) example nicely combines the black ground with a variety of brighter colors in a way that creates the visual impression of diagonal lines. Some of the black fabrics are sateen which liven up the ground. Quilting is done with concentric arcs in the outer border and small squares throughout the body of the quilt. Made of cotton; circa 1925. Excellent condition; measurements are 44" x 60".
