Rarely does one see an album quilt done in just two colors. This example has additional unusual features. The construction is what is referred to as a potholder quilt in which each block has its own binding. Most of the blocks are original designs. The repitition of the four leaf block around the central four squares makes a subtle diamond. Use of the three leaf block in each of the triangles around the edge creates a nice enclosure. Quilting follows the outlines of the applique blocks. Made circa 1890.
The quilt is in excellent condition. Measurements are 75" x 100. The quilt is ready to hang with a sleeve sewn to one of the long ends.
