This satin Crazy Quilt is unusual because of the repeated variety of circles making for a very playful design. Various combinations of whole and partial circles give a lot of whirling movement. Between the circles are geometric shapes, most of which are triangles. All of the pieces are outlined with embroidery. The backing is a light cotton sateen. This is truly an imaginative, one of a kind design. Overall, the quilt is richer in color than shows on my monitor.
Close examination shows fraying to perhaps half a dozen blocks. There is so much going on in the quilt, though, that one does not easily see the fabric weakness. The quilt measures 68" x 70. Made circa 1890; found in Maryland.
