Signed Album Quilt combining traditional with whimsical blocks. At first glance, one does not recognize that it is laid out symmetrically with the same blocks in each corner and middle outer blocks. The center panel with appliqued hearts in hands and arrows has many inked signatures that include the names: John Boyer; Sarah Russell;Henry Pressel; Edgar P Newman; Mary A Proud George Carson and Rozanne Evans. Every block has at least one inked name. Some of them have been located in and around Philadelphia.
The appliqued blocks include a wonderful pear tree; cats; shoes and a house as well as several floral baskets and urns and the Masonic logo. The quilt is in excellent condition, probably unwashed.
Measurements are 96" x 98"; made circa 1860.
