This complex variation of a Feathered Stars quilt goes by the name of Star Spangled Banner. Due to its complexity with so many tiny triangles, it is a pattern not often seen. The wee triangles within the Stars as well as both borders make the execution of this quilt quite a daunting task. The base of each triangle is half an inch across. The quilt is made with several different shades of green. The applique border combines beautifully with the hard edges of all else in the quilt. One can never be certain that a name on a quilt is that of the maker but in this instance, it seems likely that the sewn name of Hannah Jane King is that of the proud maker with August 11, 1878 her date of completion.
The quilt has been professionally laundered and is in excellent condition. Measurements are 80" x 82"; Oley, Pennsylvania origin.
