While many would mistake this quilt for Amish, it is actually Welsh. The heavy wool fabrics and quilting patterns are indicative of the Welsh origin. Concentric circles are the predominant quilting motif and they are usually seen in quilts from Wales. In addition, the quilt is stitched with cable patterning that overlaps with some of the circular designs. Both front and back are medium/ heavy wools. The quilt measures 53” x 55”; made circa 1890. Condition is excellent. The vivid reds are a striking contrast to the dark colors of the rest of the quilt.
