Birds in the Air is a wonderfully descriptive name for this quilt filled with small triangles flying every which way. The colors and placement of the triangles offer lots of fluttering movement. The solid red and brown grounds are unusual and very effective color choices. Continuing them to create the border of rectangles is a good frame. The quilt is in excellent, unwashed condition. It is from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia; made 1870's. Measurements are 76 inches square, The backing is a plain cotton muslin.
