This wood and sterling silver sauce or gravy boat is one of William Spratling's most graceful creations. The wood handles are beautifully integrated with the base. Silver dots, an element used in his jewelry as well, add the perfect subtle adornment to this ideal form.
The piece is 3 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches from handle to handle. Condition is excellent. The mark dates from 1964 - 1967.
Numerous books have been written about Spratling and a museum exhibit that traveled the country prominently featured his work. Spratling pieces are included in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
