Lancaster quilts are distinguished by their jewel-toned wools — rich purples, magentas, blues, and greens — and their three iconic patterns: Diamond in a Square, Bars, and Sunshine and Shadow. Midwest Amish and Mennonite quilts offer a broader range of patterns and a somewhat different palette, often incorporating black.
